The McKenzie Project, Inc., founded in 2020, is a pioneering Black trans-led organization based in South Florida, with a steadfast commitment to advancing disability representation, equity, and innovation. Over the past four years, The McKenzie Project has developed and delivered a wide array of tailored programs that address the unique needs of Black transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) individuals.

 

These initiatives include the establishment of Joy and Liberation Centers in Miami and Margate, which provide critical services such as emergency food and housing assistance, mental health counseling, and technology access through the Liberation Lab. The organization’s commitment to disability representation is reflected in its inclusive approach to programming, ensuring that all services are accessible and equitable for individuals with disabilities. Through partnerships and innovative strategies, The McKenzie Project continually seeks to dismantle barriers to joy, liberation, and health for the Black TGNCNB community.
