HRT Hub is a climate justice project that organizes community resources to mitigate the effects of increasing severe weather events exacerbated by climate change and provide responsive support to some of the most vulnerable and underserved communities in South Florida- Black & brown transgender, intersex, and nonbinary folks. Our vision for the HRT Hub is to create a self-sustaining and collaborative space where community leaders with transgender, intersex and nonbinary folks, and those who are not of TGNCNB+ experience can collaborate with meaningful and relevant conversations around climate and environmental justice. We see this piece crucial to create a justified space to help reconstruct and build infrastructure around the misleading education of climate and environmental justice. Secondly, we plan to continue building infrastructure of our HRT hub located in Margate, Florida where the hub will be fully equipped for the increasing severe weather events exacerbated by climate change. Also, our HRT hub will be equipped to serve as a community mutual aid space to receive potable water, flashlights, blankets, batteries, hygiene products, canned food and shelter during hurricane or natural disasters events. Additionally, the project is a rooted in building community cohesion & capacity to mitigate the impact of climate change for disproportionately affected populations in Margate Florida.
